Frequently asked questions and answers. If you do not find what you are looking for, please Contact Us.
What are your weekly hours?
Our hours vary by market. Please check each market’s page to find your local market’s hours.
Are you open during the winter?
Yes! Please visit us between November and March at the Westover Farmers Market.
What kinds of vendors will I find?
You will find our vendors selling a variety of fresh produce, eggs and meats, pastries and bread, coffee and other beverages, and a diverse selection of prepared and ready-to-eat foods. Check out our list of vendors in each market section.
How do I order ahead?
Pre-orders can be made on vendor websites for pick up at your preferred market. You can find links for participating pre-order vendors on the individual market pages.
Do vendors take credit cards?
All of our vendors accept all cards. Most use contactless payment, but many vendors also accept cash.
Are dogs allowed?
We love dogs, but they are not allowed inside the markets.
Are there events for kids at the markets?
Our markets are family-friendly places, buzzing with neighbors and community. They’re a great way to teach your kids about healthy eating, farming, sustainability, and meal planning. And there are plenty of ready-to-eat foods available for kids to enjoy. Our markets also offer a mix of adjacent kid-friendly fun spaces including playgrounds, tennis/pickleball/basketball/volleyball courts, fields, and trails.
The Arlington Art Truck makes periodic appearances at our markets, providing visitors with the opportunity to create individual art alongside designated “artists-in-residence” affiliated with the Art Truck program. For the most up-to-date information on Art Truck scheduling, visitors are invited to follow the Truck’s Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/arttruckarlington/. Scheduling announcements will also be made via the individual markets’ social media accounts.
At the beginning of the market season, we also host some special Educational Experiences with baby goats at our Lubber Run and Fairlington markets. These events, which take place with formal authorization from the proper authorities and are conducted in strict accordance with public health and safety policies, enable market visitors to get up close and personal with several baby goats brought by one of our vendors (Faerie Springs). Visitors can learn all about the different goat breeds, how they make milk, what they like to eat, what they like to do, etc. Scheduling announcements are made via the markets’ social media accounts and can also be found on Faerie Springs’ social media accounts.
Are there restrooms at your markets?
Yes, there are restrooms adjacent to our markets. In addition, all of our markets are ADA-accessible.
Do you accept SNAP/EBT at your markets?
Unfortunately, we are not equipped to process SNAP/EBT. We do, however, make a substantial annual monetary donation to the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC), and many of our vendors donate extra goods and produce to AFAC at the end of each market day.
Two of our Virginia-based produce vendors, Barajas Produce and Linda Vista Farm, do accept Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (S/FMNP) vouchers. These vouchers can be used to purchase fresh fruits, vegetables, and herbs. Additional details on S/FMNP can be found here: https://vafma.org/senior-farmers-market-nutrition-program-expansion/.
Where does leftover food go?
Gleaning – the act of collecting fresh foods from, in our case, farmers markets, is a key part of our mission. Since our founding, Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) has sent volunteers to Field to Table markets for weekly pick-ups of donated produce from farm vendors and nonperishable foods donated by market customers. In 2022, Field to Table markets donate approximately 20,000 pounds of freshly harvested fruits and vegetables that are immediately distributed to Arlington residents experiencing food insecurity.
Can I volunteer?
Yes! Please check our market volunteer page for details.
Can I have a temporary space at the market to support my organization?
